CERT Neighborhoods
Lamorinda CERT has initiated neighborhood preparedness programs in Orinda, Moraga and Lafayette. Small neighborhood groups are organized under a Block Captain and receive tools and instruction on how to use these tools during a disaster. Members do not have to be CERT graduates (although that would be very helpful for them). Local Coordinators are Beccie Kunzman (Orinda), Gary Borrelli (Moraga). Please send email to our webmaster (webmaster@LamorindaCERT.org if you want to join.

LogoBecause Moraga is an isolated community, it is extremely important that our neighborhoods are organized to take care of themselves for up to seven or more days.  An organized neighborhood will be better able to react to disaster, natural or man-made.

The Moraga Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Core Committee is comprised of CERT graduates who have assumed the responsibility of organizing the Town of Moraga residents into neighborhood blocks and providing general earthquake preparedness information with documentation and other materials to residents.  We are at the point where additional volunteers are needed to move this program forward.

Disaster Preparedness Tip: Practice makes perfect

Conduct fire drills and practice evacuating your home twice a year. Drive your planned evacuation route and plot alternate routes on a map in case main roads are impassible or gridlocked. Practice earthquake and tornado drills at home, school and work. Commit a weekend to update phone numbers, disaster supplies and review your plan with everyone.
