The Moraga Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Committee is reporting significant progress in the last couple of weeks. They have held 10 neighborhood meetings, with an average of nine neighbors attending. There have also been five follow-up meetings (with an average of eight attendees) where Neighborhood Groups have been formed.

THE PURPOSE OF MORAGA NEIGHBORHOOD EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Is to provide reliable information to individual neighborhoods in order for residents to prepare for and react to emergency situations, i.e. earthquake, fire, etc.

Contact the Orinda Public Safety Advisory Commission to arrange a Neighborhood Watch/Emergency Preparedness meeting. We are eager to help you set a date and we will provide the program and materials for your meeting.

Here are the steps to get your neighborhood group started:

Because Moraga is an isolated community, it is extremely important that our neighborhoods are organized to take care of themselves for up to seven or more days.  An organized neighborhood will be better able to react to disaster, natural or man-made.
 
The Moraga Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Core Committee is comprised of CERT graduates who have assumed the responsibility of organizing the Town of Moraga residents into neighborhood blocks and providing general earthquake preparedness information with documentation and other materials to residents.  We are at the point where additional volunteers are needed to move this program forward.
