Recently, Peter Steinbach, a Lamorinda CERT graduate, was able to use what he had learned in CERT Training. He arrived at the scene of an accident near Lafayette in Highway 24. A vehicle had rolled over and a woman had been ejected. Peter was the 5th person on the scene.
After many years of service to Lamorinda CERT Gordon Nathan has decided to step down as Lamorinda CERT Coordinator. Gordon will continue to play an important role in Lamorinda CERT as an instructor.Together with our Registrar Ken Tom, Gordon is one of the founders of Lamorinda CERT. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Moraga-Orinda Fire and is still helping CalFire contain and put out fires around the state. Gordon's expertise and unbridled energy are the secret ingredients that have made Lamorinda CERT work all these years.
Lamorinda CERT currently has 410 graduates. If you know someone who should be a CERT member, please point them to our website (http://LamorindaCERT.org) where they can sign up for our training. Our communities depend more on more on the services that CERT provides. Please help us recruit more people to Lamorinda CERT!

The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) today launched an effort to encourage everyone to install and maintain home smoke alarms and, if possible, sprinklers. More than 3,000 people die in home fires each year, and the majority of them have no working smoke alarm. To prevent these deaths, the USFA, a division of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is sponsoring the nationwide Install. Inspect. Protect. Campaign, which emphasizes that “Smoke Alarms Save Lives.”
