ImageRoughly 15% of the people who signed up for the Lamorinda CERT training did not complete all requirements. Do not despair! There is a simple cure for Incompleteness: sign up for a Lamorinda CERT training and attend the session that you were unable to take before. (Send an email to our Registrar at if you do not remember what it is that you missed.) We are getting ready to teach a series of very exciting classes next year. Sign up now!

Where Are The CERTs?
Written by Frans Hoffman

CERT Logo

21.17% live in Lafayette, 32.86% live in Moraga and 27.88% live in Orinda. The remainder is either living outside of Lamorinda or are still Incomplete (see above for a cure). We clearly need to do something about the preponderance of Moraga residents. So, citizens of Lafayette and Orinda, you have your work cut out for you. If each of us in Lafayette and Orinda recruited just one more member for CERT we would bring back the balance in Lamorinda. :)

We are looking for updates from – for example – the block captains in Orinda and the MNEP groups in Moraga. Or just let us know how you feel about our training.

Written by Frans Hoffman
Oct 28, 2009 at 04:12 PM

The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) today launched an effort to encourage everyone to install and maintain home smoke alarms and, if possible, sprinklers. More than 3,000 people die in home fires each year, and the majority of them have no working smoke alarm. To prevent these deaths, the USFA, a division of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is sponsoring the nationwide Install. Inspect. Protect. Campaign, which emphasizes that “Smoke Alarms Save Lives.”
