The wildfires in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino counties remind us of the critical need to receive telephone alerts as early as possible so that we can evacuate before the fire overwhelms us. As more and more people drop their landline telephones and rely solely on cell phones, it is imperative that your cell phones be registered so that the alerting agencies can contact you.
To sign up for alerts to be sent to your cell phones do both:
Contra Costa Community Warning System: https://cwsalerts.com/registration/
Local jurisdictions: Text your ZIP CODE to 888777 for local mobile alerts

On Monday evening, August 14, 2017, we again held a tasting of 25 year storage foods. The results were tallied. Here’s what our members thought.
Lamorinda CERT has published a new policy for dealing with Unaccompanied Minors and Adults with Access and Functional Needs who are encountered following a disaster. This policy checklist guides the CERT member so that the subject (minor or AFN adult) is best cared for and the CERT member and the sponsoring agency are protected against litigation for possible claims of impropriety. Download the policy from the CERT FORMS section under the RESOURCES tab.
