CSTI
The Standardized Emergency Management System Introduction online course, or SEMS G606, is a requirement for many positions.
While each CERT organization has different requirements for Team Levels, Lamorinda CERT requires G606 for Level II.
The challenge is less the hour that it will take you to go through the course materials or the 10-15 minutes that it will take you to pass the test at the end. The real challenge is finding the online course in the first place.
The course resides on the CSTI (California Specialized Training Institute) website which has a huge number of training opportunities if you are interested. But, for right now, you want to find the one online course you need, right?
Finding the SEMS G606 Course
- Go to the CSTI site (opens in new tab)
- Log into your existing account or create one, it’s free. You will need this account to get credit for the courses you take on this site.
- Return to the site home page after logging into the site.
- Click the “Browse Training” image (see image below)
- When on the Browse Training page, type G606 in the search box (upper right side of the page, see second image below)
- In the search results, select the Standardized Emergency Management System Introduction (SEMS G606) online course.
- Start the course, take some notes, and learn how the State is organized and operates in emergency situations.
Make sure that you get a screenshot or other verification of completing this course and submit it to the agency requiring it so your records can be updated.
